4. | David Monroe was born on 22 Nov 1812 in , , Georgia, USA (son of Peter Monroe and Sarah Elizabeth McIntyre); died on 29 Jan 1886 in Marion Co., South Carolina, USA. Notes:
David's parents were on their way to Florida for her mother's health, when he was born in Georgia. His mother died shortly after. David's uncle, Jack McIntyre of Cumberland, North Carolina, went to Georgia and brought David and other members of the family back home with him.
David lived with his uncle and when he was old enough, he began working in his uncle's store. He did not like the life of a clerk and so he left to join his father, who was a mechanic in business in the District of Marion (later Marion County) South Carolina. He made Marion his home for the rest of his life.
David was married three times. His first wife was Mercy Mace, the sister of John Mace. They had one daughter before Mercy died.
His second wife, Elizabeth, was the widow of Mr. Haseldon. She had six children when she married David.
His third wife was Fanetta Ann White, the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Fore) White.
David served in the Confederate Army during the U.S. Civil War as a Captain in Wilson's Squadron. He was disabled by the fall of his horse. Before the war he had held the rank of Major.
David was of medium height and well proportioned. His complexion was ruddy and he had big expressive eyes.

8. | Peter Monroe was born on 21 Oct 1777 in , Cumberland Co., North Carolina, USA (son of Monroe); and died. Notes:
Peter was married twice but the name of his second wife is unknown. One of the marriages took place on 21 Oct 1803.
Peter sold land on Stewarts Creek in 1775 (150 acres) and a tract on Middle Creek in 1791. He bought 100 acres on Middle Creek in 1792 and another 640 acres on Deep Creek in 1801.
In 1828, he was granted 50 acres by the State of North Carolina, between Bones and Stewarts Creeks.
Both Peter and his first wife, Sarah, were Presbyterian. They were on their way to Florida because of Sarah's health when their son, David was born in Georgia. Sarah died soon after. Ref. (1) says David was born in 1812 and Sarah died in 1810, but of course there is a mistake here.
