2. | David Munro was born in 1740 in Tain, , Ross and Cromarty, Scotland (son of David Munro); and died. Notes:
David moved from Tain, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland to Mapleton, New York in 1773 or 1774, possibly as a soldier in the King's Army. Ref 1 says he was a farmer who joined the First Battalion of the King's Royal Regiment of New York in 1776.
In 1784, he went to Johnstown, Ontario, Canada, and then to Cornwall Township.
His name is found on a Muster Roll of disbanded troops in Cornwall, Ontario Canada in Oct 1784 with the note "David Munro - gone to the States for his property".
He returned to Canada in 1788 and settled on the north branch of the Raisin River near Martintown, Ontario.
He and Nancy had two sons and three daughters.
