On the death of his maternal grandfather, George Gun of Braemore, John inherited Braemore in right of his mother.

He entered the army and soon rose to the rank of Captain.

"Robert is confused with his nephew in Mackenzie, despite more correct account in Ross..."

Ref. (2) says Robert was the son of Hector Munro of Findon [10562]. Ref. (3) says Robert was the son of Andrew [35724] and Hector's grandson. It is not known which version is correct.
