Charles Samson

Hon. charles Samson served as Justice of the Peace for 29 years and as a state legislator for five terms. He lived in Roxbury, Vermont.

Ref 1 p. 139 says Charles was born 17 Feb 1790, but p. 266 says he was baptized 14 Feb 1790.

Benjamin married Anna Munroe. Anna (daughter of George Munroe and Anna Bemis) was born on 13 May 1759 in Lexington, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, USA; was christened on 27 May 1759; died on 24 Feb 1822 in Roxbury, Vermont. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Anna's husband, Benjamin was the boy who rang the church bell at Lexington on 19 Apr 1775, alerting the Minute Men. He was 19 years old at the time. He served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War participating at the Battle of Bunker Hill and re-enlisting Apr 1779.

He lived in Roxbury, Vermont and was probably a farmer.

Georg's father died in 1743 when he was 11 years old. In 1747, Timothy Welling was appointed to be his guardian.

George was a private in a Massachusetts Minute Man unit. He was slain at the Battle of Monmouth by the same cannon ball that killed his kinsman, Captain Edmund Munroe [126].

When George Munroe died at the age of 37, his widow administered his estate. On 7 Mar 1747, Timothy Wellington was appointed guardian of Timothy, Thaddeus, and Elizabeth under fourteen years of age, and of George, fifteen years of age.
