| 2. | Hezekiah Wetherbee was born on 20 Jun 1757 in Lunenburg, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, USA (son of Benjamin Wetherbee and Kezia Munroe); died on 31 Mar 1823 in Grafton, Windham Co., Vermont, USA. Notes:
Hezekiah was a soldier in the American Revolution serving in Captain Rand's company and in Captain Thomas' company of Rindge, New Hampshire.
Soon after his marriage, he moved to Grafton, Vermont. There he was a farmer and attended the Baptist Church. He died from injuries received in drawing wood with oxen.
Hezekiah's wife was the daughter of Colonel Enoch Hale of Rindge, New Hampshire. In 1846 at the age of 80 she went to live with her daughter, Sarah Barton at Rockigham, Vermont where she remained in a quiet and lovely old age until her death at Christmas.

He was a farmer. Benjamin was a descendant of Robert Wetherby the martyr, who was condemned to die at the stake by Bloody Mary on 20 Nov 1558. Three days before the execution, Mary was executed herself and Elizabeth became queen. She conferred the Royal Chevron on his arms and gave him the motto, Teraxin Fido (Strong in Faith).

He was known by the cognomen of "Corporal Joe". He may have had an active part in the American Revolution on 19 Apr 1775, but because of his age (88) it would have been on that day only.
One reference gives his birthdate as 16 Aug 1685. R. S. Munroe gives his death date as 1787. Ebb says he died on 12 Feb 1737 but that is unlikely since he supposedly participated in the Revolutionary War.
