    Notes:

According to a family diary written by James Smith Monroe [6761], Angus' great grandson, Angus was born at or near Glasgow about 1750. His father was killed in battle. He left Scotland with his grandfather to come to the U.S. During the 13 week passage, his grandfather died of scurvy and was buried at sea. Angus arrived in 1758 at the age of 8, Boston being the probable port of entry, although the original destination may have been Nova Scotia.

Angus served in Washington's army in an unknown capacity, and was in the retreat to Long Island and up the Hudson. He was in the massacre of the Minisink in Orange County, New York, but survived.

He married Catherine and moved over the mountains from Orange County, New York, purchased land from the Indians and settled in the Long Pond Settlement, now known as West Milford, Passaic County, New Jersey.

He is listed in the 1793 Militia census of New Jersey although the writing looks like "Angles" instead of Angus.

An Angus Monrow witnessed the 22 Oct 1804 will of Hezikiah Scofield - Pompton Township, Bergen County, New Jersey.

The certificate of incorporation of the West Milford Presbyterian Church meeting house dated 21 Feb 1807, lists him as one of the five nominated and chosen to direct and superintend the building of the church.

He was sometimes called an "Orange man" - an Ulsterman - which aludes to North Ireland.

Angus' will of 1820 in West Milford, Passaic County, New Jersey, named his six children.
