Edward's mother died when he was just one year old. He was the second of two children. When his father died in 1862, he moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts where he was raised by his uncle, John Burney.
He married the daughter of Joseph Dautaud of St. Valentin, St. John, Quebec. Shortly after her birth, she and her parents moved to Danvers, Massachusetts.
Edward and Adele later moved to Brookline, Massachusetts. They had four children.

Peter was the third child of John and Lucy (Graves) Pierce. He married the daughter of James Anderson of Templeton, Massachusetts. They lived in Templeton though he also owned land in Phillipston and Petersham. They had six children.

John was the third child of John and Abigail (Beard) Pierce. He married the daughter of Peter Graves. He moved to Gardner around 1788 and in 1812, bought a farm in Petersham, where he died.
John and Lucy had 8 children.
