Married:
The wedding of John and Ida was announced in the Jamestown (New York) Journal on 2 Jan 1876. The marriage was terminated shortly afterward at the insistence of John's parents. Ida had been a housemaid (and apparently a very bad one) in their house, so Isaac and Lusena did not consider her to be a suitable wife for their "Number One Son", John.

No birth record for Simmons has yet been found but in the Federal Census of 1850 Simmons stated on 12 Nov of that year that he was 78 years old as of his las birthday. In the New York State census of 1885, Simmons stated (in Nov 1855) that he was 83 years of age. From this it can be estimated that he was born sometime between 13 Nov 1771 and 13 Nov 1772.

Greens Farms Congregational Church - Simmons' baptismal record reads: "1775/Jan. 28: "Simmons, son of Elizabeth Row, presented by his grandmother."

Buried in the Rockwell family plot in the Mina Corners Cemetery

Simmons married Elizabeth Robinson about 1815 in Roxbury, Delaware Co., New York, USA. Elizabeth was born est 1773; died in Nov 1828 in Roxbury, Delaware Co., New York, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Elizabeth was the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Hunt) Robinson of Roxbury. She was a descendant of the Rev. John Robinson (1576-1625), the Pilgrim Pastor of Leyden.
