BURIAL: James Donaldson, Muiryhall, Lhanbryde, was buried at Urquhart Cemetery. The marker says he died 16 Feb 1937, aged 73 years. A picture of the marker is in the possession of James Reuben Munro.

James married Annie Munro in 1892. Annie (daughter of William Munro and Margaret Allan) was born on 28 Nov 1864 in Grange, , Banffshire, Scotland; died on 1 May 1953 in Urquhart, , Moray, Scotland; was buried in Urquhart, , Moray, Scotland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

SOURCE: Ina Donaldson says in her letter of 3-1-90 (maybe 3 January 1990, since envelope was postmarked 6 Feb 1990.) that Annie, Ina's mother, had four girls and a boy, Margaret, Mrs. Bryce; Annie, Mrs. Garrow; and Jessie, Mrs. Clark; John married Joan Robertson (that was Wan) and Ina.

BIOGRAPHY: Ina Donaldson tells us (letter dated 27 February 1998 to Neva and Jim Munro) that she can remember her mother speaking about Cranach and Balnamoon. Annie's father, William Munro used to have a grocer's van at Grange, horse at that time. Annie used to speak about her father being late home if it was snowing.

Annie Munro's granddaughter, Margaret Jane Bryce, has this to say about Annie (Extract 35A): My grandmother, Annie, was a wonderful sweet natured woman, but one who could separate the wheat from the chaff and who wouldn't suffer fools gladly. I loved her dearly and so, too did David (her husband). On parting she would always say: "Haste ye back again."

CHILDREN Ina Donaldson says in her letter of 3 January 1990, that Annie, Ina's mother, had four girls and a boy, Margaret, Mrs. Bryce; Annie, Mrs. Garrow; and Jessie, Mrs. Clark; John married Joan Robertson (that was Wan) and Ina.

BURIAL: Grave marker in the Urquhart Cemetery, Urquhart, Moray, Scotland, is engraved: "In Loving Memory of James Donaldson Muiryhall, Lhanbryde, died 16th Feb 1937, aged 73 years, and his beloved wife Annie Munro died 1st May 1953 aged 88 years."

RESIDENCES: Ina Donaldson says in her letter to Jim and Neva Munro, dated 28 January 1998, that she doesn't know when William and Margaret Munro came to the shop at Urquhart, but Grandfather William died at Urquhart in 1891. She doesn't think they were long there, and he wasn't long ill.

William Munro, Newtown of Cantly, had a son by his wife, Jean Dustan, baptized on the 17th same month and named William. Witnesses, James and Gines Dustan, Grange.

CONFLICT: Ina Donaldson (letter, dated 6 February 1997) says that William was born 13 Jul 1836.

COMMENT: Alexander Munro probably was William and Margaret's son who lived in Alloa.

William was buried at the Urquhart Cemetery in Urquhart, Morayshire, Scotland. The gravestone was photographed by James Reuben Munro in September 1993.

Margaret was the daughter of John and Ann (Reid) Allan.

BIOGRAPHY: Ina Donaldson, in her letter to Neva and Jim Munro, 26 February 1998, tells us that "Grandma Munro used to have all her son's pictures on the top of her dresser, and she used to change them every week and make him the banker for the week." Also, "Granda (William) Munro never lived at Primrose Cottage it was after he died that Grandma moved up there when J. Sime married Jessie Munro and Primrose belonged to Antie Maggie (Wilson) at that time and Gma paid her a rent and Aunt M. kept the garden for hersel (herself), and a while before that it was the Post Office for the Village and up until it was sold the Post Office door was still on what was the kitchen then in Grandma time, but it changed hands a lot since then."

RESIDENCE: More from Ina Donaldson in her letter to Neva and Jim Munro, 6 Apr 1998: Primrose Cottage and Hilton House are both on the main road. Primrose on the right going down (west) and Hilton on the left, on the corner as you go up (south) to the railway station. It has a licensed grocer shop, and it was a shop when Ina's Aunt Maggie lived there. It has changed hands a few times since she hat it. It was a Mr. and Mrs. Kirk that had it last, but he died. Since that the shop has been closed; Mrs. Kirk still (1998) lives there.

CONFLICT: Birth record for William Munro gives his mother's name as Jean Dustan rather than Ann Dustan.

COMMENT: Margaret Allan had an uncle named Alexander Allan.
