Mark lived in East Bloomfield, New York until about 1888 and then in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. He was 6'2" tall, had white hair and a mustache. He looked like a southern colonel. Before he was 16, he volunteered in the U.S. Civil War. He enlisted under his brother's name (Bradley). He graduated from West Point and worked as a storekeeper and realtor. His wife was barely 5' tall.
