Ruth and Nathan lived on Hancock Street in Lexington, Massachusetts.

In 1793, Nathan was a lieutenant in the Lexington Artillery. He was a selectman for 15 years, assessor 11 years, town clerk 8 years, town treasurer 13 years, representative 8 years, and senator and councillor for 4 years. He was one of the principal magistrates of the town. In 1820 he was a delegate to revise the Constitution.

Ruth's husband, William, was a lieutenant in Captain Parker's company on the common on 19 Apr 1775. He was wounded in the fray. He marched to Cambridge on 17 Jun where he stayed two days.

He was assessor in 1776, 1779, 1780 and 1791, and a selectman at the time of the Revolution.

«i»Robert Munroe was a soldier in the French War, was the standard bearer at the taking of Louisburg, in 1758, he was also in the service in 1762. Having served the colonies against the French and Indians, it is natural to expect that he would be true to the family instinct, and the call of patriotism to defend the colonies against any other enemy. And so he was. he was the ensign of Captain Parker's company, and was on the Common on 19 Apr 1775, and stood at his post; and fell, one of the first victims of British oppression, on the very field where he was posted by his gallant commander. He was 64 years old at the time of his death.
