  1. 2.  Simeon Monroe was born in 1800-1810 in , Burke Co., Georgia, USA (son of William Monroe); died in 1846-1849 in Sumterville, Florida, USA; was buried in Sumterville, Florida, USA.

    Notes:

    Simeon lived in Midville, Georgia near the Ogeechee River, but moved from Georgia to Florida about 1843. He lived in Alachua County and Marion County, Florida.

    It is said that he was the son of James Monroe whose widow married a Fortner and moved to Florida before 1850.

    The 1840 census places Simeon in Burke County 74h district at the same address as John and Joseph. In 1844, "Territorial papers of U.S." list him signing for a road and petitioning for more land.

    He died before 1850 and was buried in Sumterville, Florida, where all records were destroyed by fire.

    Notes:

    By the 1850 census, Mary was a widow with six children. However, she lived to be 85 and remarried twice ((2) Young Fortner, (3) Daniel Hull).

    Notes:

    He lived in Burke County, Georgia, but not much is known about him due to a fire in Waynesboro, Burke County, Georgia about 1854. Fragments of land holdings and land lottery winnings can be found.

    A number of other references can be found to a number of Monroes with the family Christian names of Simeon (Simon), Thomas, Phillip, James, John, William, in the Savannah District and remaining Burke County records as well as ship logs of immigrants from Scotland. Family tradition places the immigration from Scotland at about 1765.

    It has not been proven that William was the father of Simeon Monroe.
