    Joseph served in the American Revolutionary War as a corporal in Captain Sylvanus Martin's Company, Colonel William's Regiment 29 Sep - 30 Oct 1777 at Tiverton, Rhode Island, enlisting from Rehoboth.

    On 24 Apr 1829 a commission was appointed to appraise his real estate and to set off to his widow her thirds which came to $1074.

    Ref 1 says Joseph was born 8 Nov 1750.

    Sarah "Sally" Barstow (or Basto).

    On 24 Apr 1829 a commission was appointed to appraise Joseph's real estate and to set off to Sarah, his widow, her thirds which came to $1074. By 1831, all that remained was $369.41 and that was used up for Sarah's dower ($170.34) and expenses. Sarah became the administrator of the estate, the heirs signing their approval.

    At the age of 85, Sarah applied for a pension on 28 Jan 1840 at Seekonk.
