Richard Atwood Lovekin

Richard was an orchard farmer. He was the first white child born in Clarke Township, Ontario. He served as a member of the Township Council 1861-1866. He spent the last 15 years of his life in retirement.

Richard Atwood Lovekin was the first white child born in Clarke Township. Intelligent, with opinions about the world and the people in it. Well informed regarding Upper Canadian history. had much knowledge of Robert Gourlay and William Lyon MacKenzie whom he admired. Had great knowledge of fruit and had rare varieties of apples and pears, he planned his orchard very well.
