    Major Lewis (or Lovise) Wellington Munroe and his family moved from Cumberland County, Virginia to Fayette County, Tennessee in Dec 1836. He lived in Hickory Withe, Tennessee and Lonoke, Arkansas.

    Although he was unable to serve in the Civil War because of a physical disability, he was always known as Major Munroe.

    He was a planter, merchant and financier.

    He and America were married by Rev. John Carroll at the home of her parents in Prairie County, Arkansas.
