«i»His son, William Monroe I was born in Ohio in 1786, married Harriett Thurston daughter of Daniel Greene Thurston, and his wife, Fanny Thayer Thurston, in about 1812. Daniel Greene Thurston Harriett's father was supposed to be a relative of Gen'l Nathaniel Greene. William Monroe's I widow, Harriett Thurston Monroe, later married Dr. John Loofborough, and in 1831 the family moved from Ohio to South western Wisconsin where they lived at Mineral Point, one of the first towns to be settled in that new country. William Monroe II and his sister Lucy went to the Mineral Point schools. His mother died in 1834 and was buried near Willow springs. Her grave was covered with brush and weeds to prevent the Indians from finding it, and the grave became lost so that the family could never find it again.
