2. | John Monroe was born in 1760 in Passamaquoddy Bay, Massachusetts, USA; died on 10 Jul 1846 in Pennfield, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada. Notes:
John was a private in a Massachusetts Unit during the Revolutionary War. He served from Athol, Massachusetts from 30 Nov 1776 to 14 May 1780.
He was born on an island in Passamaquoddy Bay, Massachusetts. His father died before he was one year old and his mother moved to Truro and gave him to one James Lombard. His mother also died in John's infancy.
Lombard was a seafaring man and moved to Athol in 1767 where John lived with him and served as his substitute in some campaigns.

Hannah called herself Hannah (Cross) Wood when she married John, so she may have been previously married to someone named Wood. She was the daughter of Capt. Christopher and Jemima (Eaton) Cross.
