Generation: 3

  1. 4.  Farquhar Munro, of Teanoird was born about 1513 (son of Alexander Munro, of Kiltearn and Janet McLean).

    Notes:

Ferquhar Munro of Teanard and his five brothers were known as "Sliochd Alasdair mhic Huistain." Teanard formed the north or upper half of the lands of Kiltearn and Ferquhar sometimes appears as portioner of Kiltern.

His wife was the daughter of McGillespick, rentaller of Fyrish.

...sons of Alexander son of Hugh Donald, Hugh, Alexander, John, Farquhar, William. This group were known as Sliochd Alasdair mhic Huistain.

Ferquhar of Teanard his 4 son married Anne daughter to McGillespick Rentaller of ffyrish by whom he had Williamd and Alexander and a daughter fflorence married to Dingwall Bailzie of Dingwall.

Teanaird formed north or uper half of lands of Kiltearn and Farquhar sometimes appears a portioner of Kiltearn (FW 140, 255, 300). Mackenzie 400-1 sometimes confuses this Farquhar with grandson M/78.

Farquha rbought the lands of Milntown of Alness from Robert Gray of Arboll for 4000 Scots merks on 7 Jun 1650. He sold this property on 5 Mar 1666 to Hugh Munro of Teaninich for the same amount.

    Died:
Error alert: Mackenzie gives Farquhar's death date as about 1670, but this is not likely because his father was born in 1480. It is known that Mackenzie sometimes confuses Farquhar with his grandson who was also named Farquhar.

Farquhar married Anne McGillespick. Anne was born about 1518; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

The Munros of Culnauld, now Culnaha.

    I. Andrew Munro, first of Culnauld, was the third son of Andrew Beg Monro, III. of Milntown, now New Targat, by his wife Euphemia, daughter of James Dunbar of Tarbat and Ballone Castle, Easter Ross, and grand-daughter of Sir James Dunbar of Westfield, County of Moray. The estate of Culnauld, parish of Nigg, was bequeathed to Andrew by his father. In 1582, James VI. confirms a grant to Andrew Munro of Culnaha by John Leslie, Bishop of Ross, "of the half of the lands and town of Nig, and half the alehouse and its croft, with the keeping of the place and Manor of Nig."
