Agnes married Hector Munro, Of Novar in 1679. Hector (son of George Munro, III, of Novar and Isabel Munro) was born about 1652; died about 1734. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Hugh Munro, of Novar was born in 1682; died in Dec 1756.
3. George Munro was born est 1696; died in 1697.
4. Andrew Munro was born about 1706; died in 1781; was buried in Inverness, , Inverness, Scotland.

Notes:

Hugh of Tearivan succeeded his cousin as Laird of Teaninich. He appears to have been a man of much prudence and considerable means, and he added largely to the family possessions.

On 7 Jun 1650 at Chanonry, he sold some goods to James Farquhar, a merchant from Aberdeen.

On 20 Nov 1655, Hugh purchased the lands of Teaninich from his cousin, Hugh, who had gotten into debt and had to sell the estate. On 20 Feb 1660, he added the lands of Milton of Alness by purchasing them from Robert Gray of Arboll for just over 500 pounds. He also purchased other lands in the neighborhood from Farquhar Munro of Teanoird and others.

He did not conform to Episcopacy at first and he was one of the 47 persons in the Northern Counties who were fined for refusing to do so. He paid about 1200 pounds Scots to John Paterson, Bishop of Ross in Feb 1665, but by the end of the year he had taken the oath of allegiance. He soon returned to the Presbyterian fold, however, and became an active elder in the Parish Church of Alness.

According to the valuation roll of 1644, the total rents collected on Hugh's lands was about 440 pounds.

Hugh served as Collector of Customs of Inverness-shire and Commissioner for Supply for Ross in 1667 and 1685.

He lived to a very old age. On 7 Feb 1701, he signed a discharge at Milton of Alness which was witnessed by "Hugh Munro, Younger of Teaninich, my grandchild."

Sale /purchase of Ardullie was in 1619 (Inverness Sasines). Alexander of Ardullie fl 1560, 1578, 1581 is presumably his grandfather; Mackenzie 306 mistakenly attached the nickname 'Cruachan' to the grandson, whereas it was clearly applied to grandfather in 'Tree' & 'Chron Acc'.

Hugh was first known as Hugh Munro in Fyrish. On 2 Mar 1588, Hugh received a Royal grant of Teaninich from King James VI for good services rendered to the King. A sasine followed on 6 Jun 1589. The name of the estate was later changed to Wester Teaninich.

Hugh died before 29 May 1593.

Notes:

William followed the example of his uncle, the Archdeacon, and joined the Presbyterian Church of Scotland.

In various documents he is called "Mr. William, Parson of Cullicudden" and "William Monro, Hucheonson," or Hugh's son. He served as Reader at Cullicudden 1574-1578 with a stipend of 20 merks and the kirklands of that parish. He was also Reader at Rosskeen and Nonikiln, with 20 merks of stipend.

The position of Reader was then a new office, and consisted only in reading the Scroptures without the power of administering the Sacraments. The position was abolished by the General Assembly of 1581.

William was presented to the parsonage of Cullicudden by King James VI, on 1 Dec 1581, on the death of his predecessor, Rev. David Dunbar. He continued in that office until 1607 or 1614. He was also a Canon in the Cathedral of Ross.

Cullicudden and the ancient parish of Kirkmichael were later joined to form the parish of Resolis.

William died before 1614.
